ITALIAN GLORIES

Baroque Encounter enjoy devising and presenting new programmes of baroque chamber music.  The programme below is was devised for counter tenor, recorder(s) and keyboard.  Though the recitals are normally created for the harpsichord many are able to be adapted for piano.  We are always happy to work to new ideas and requirements... just contact us!

Italy was such a hive of activity in music and the arts during the baroque period.  Many composers and artists travelled there to study and soak up the inspiration of such creativity in action, and young gentlemen included Italian cities on their grand tours.

This recital celebrates the output of Baroque Italy with arias, cantatas, canzonas and sonatas by Monteverdi, Albinoni, Vivaldi, Cavalli, Scarlatti and Veracini, among others, exhibiting the importance of the Italian contribution to baroque music.
